SHREVEPORT TO ISSUE REVISED RFC FOR RECYCLING CONTRACT

At the Tuesday Shreveport Council meeting, an agenda item was the award of the $1.9 million recycling contract.The Request for Proposal (RFP) by the city had only one response that complied with its terms and conditions. Thus, it was forwarded to the mayor and then to the council for approval.

KEN KREFFTContributing ColumnistThe city of Shreveport’s 2.75% sales tax receipts are 17.4% above the midyear point in 2020. Last year we were staying home more, shopping less. This year at the six-month mark, the city’s sales tax receipts add to $70,891,778.45. Last year it was $60,391,000.73.

Allegiant Airlines recently started non-stop flights from Shreveport to Los Angeles.These low-cost flights are a big boon for Shreveport and the Shreveport Regional Airport.The Ark-La-Tex Regional Air Service Alliance (RASA) awarded Allegiant $50,000 to assist in marketing these flights.
