On Monday (Sept. 21) Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith gave his monthly crime report on calls for service to the Shreveport City Council comparing year to date with Sept. 21, 2025. Here are the calls for service: 1. Felonies   Down 13% 2. Vehicle thefts   Down 14% 3.

QUALIFYING DATES MOVED FOR NOVEMBER, EARLY VOTING EXTENDED

 The governor’s emergency order issued back in April caused changes to be made to upcoming elections.Qualifying for the Nov. 3, 2020, election has been moved to July 22-24.The elections that were originally scheduled back on April 4 and May 9, have been moved to July 11 and Aug. 15.

12 OAKS DAYCARE ON APPEAL TO SHREVEPORT CITY COUNCIL

On May 6 the Shreveport Caddo Metropolitan Planning Commission (MPC) approved a subdivision plat to allow the construction of a daycare facility at 12 Oaks subdivision.The 12 Oaks Homeowners Association (HOA) has appealed this action to the Shreveport city council.

FIREWORKS LEGAL IN SHREVEPORT FOR JUNETEENTH

Now fireworks can be sold, discharged, ignited or exploded to from noon June 16 through 10 p.m. June 20.This is to commemorate Juneteenth, which is June 19. Juneteenth is a day commemorating end of slavery in the U.S.

What started out as an amendment to restrict sales and discharge of fireworks in Shreveport morphed into an expansion of sales at the council’s meeting on Tuesday, June 9.Now fireworks can be sold, discharged, ignited or exploded to from noon June 16 through 10 p.m. June 20.

HATS OFF TO LOCAL PROTESTERS AND LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT

Kudos to all that are involved in the local protest marches that emphasize that BLACK LIVES MATTER.Unlike in other cities across the nation, these protests have not had confrontations with law enforcement. They have not induced rioting, looting, bodily harm and/or  property destruction.
