If you haven't tuned into a Caddo Commission meeting--either the Mon. work session or the regular Thurs. meeting--get ready.
The Commission and its committees have been meeting by Zoom forever--it seems.
Actually there was one isolated meeting on Sept. 17. Other than that, the last regular "live" meeting was Mar.5, 2020.
Who knows when the commissioners will again have the courage to come down to Government Plaza for a meeting?
Many of the commissioners have real jobs, and they actually go to their offices!
All of the commissioners do venture out of their residences for necessities of life like groceries, gas, medical visits, out of town trips, etc.
But many of them refuse to come to Government Plaza where very stringent COVID-19 protocols are followed.
Watching Commission meetings is a life experience. The living rooms and dens of some commissioners are on open display, like a house beautiful program.
One commissioner has slogans in this background and others sometimes call in by phone as they run errands, go through the drive-through for food, or handle other personal visits.
Sitting at home in one's easy chair does little to expedite meetings.
Monday's work session lasted over 3 hours. Yes, 180 minutes.
And this was a work session.
Several commissioners are very thin skinned and call out anyone who does not cowtie to their comments and vagaries.
I expect the same from this column. And those will be shared, including any profanity laced utterances.
The regular meeting will be tomorrow at 3.30 pm. Go to the Parish of Caddo facebook page.
Get your popcorn ready. It could be a real circus!
