NAMES POP UP TO REPLACE GREEN ON CITY COUNCIL IN 2026 ELECTION

Write about having no names for an upcoming vacant city council seat and phone texts roll in. Billy Anderson is expected to run for the District F council seat. He will likely be endorsed by Rev. Theron Jackson of Morningstar Baptist Church and possibly by James Green, the current councilman.

Goodness, the mayoral announcement of Stormy Gage-Watts has suddenly opened the floodgates for hot stove talk about mayoral hopefuls. It’s early for the turkeys to arrive, but then all the holidays are promoted much sooner these days. Now another person has jumped into the mayoral frying pan.

RESIDENCY, NOT DOMICILE, REQUIRED TO RUN FOR SHREVEPORT MAYOR

The Charter for the City of Shreveport has only two requirements to qualify for the office of mayor. The first is that the person must be a registered voter in Shreveport at the time of qualifying. The second is that the person is a “resident” of Shreveport at the time of qualifying.
