MAYBE THE BEST CANDIDATE FOR DDA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR DID NOT APPLY

The application period for the Shreveport Downtown Development Director ended on Wednesday, Jan. 31. Fourteen people with diverse backgrounds applied for this important position.

Unfortunately, Janie Landry currently the interim Executive Director, did not apply. Landry has served as the interim Executive Director five times in her 30-year span at Downtown Development Authority. She regularly serves as the Deputy Director.

Landry, who has a Master of Arts, is the only candidate who has downtown development and planning experience. She is an active member of various planning and business organizations.

Landy served as the Executive Director of the Bossier Downtown Development Authority for three years.

She then served as the District Manager for Jim McCrery's 4th Congressional District office for three years.

The selection committee will soon begin processing the applicants. If no one is selected, Landry could be promoted to permanent Executive Director.
