HOPEFULLY, 7 CADDO COMMISSIONERS CAN SLEEP BETTER TONIGHT

At Caddo Commission meeting yesterday, the seven Democrat commissioners voted to pass the three anti-Trump resolutions that had been the subject of contentious debate at its last regular meeting.

Everyone should know that the resolutions will have no impact.

Everyone  should know that the Commissioners were elected to handle parish, not state or national business.

Everyone should know that the resolutions represent political posturing at its worst.

And in today's political climate in Washington D.C. and in Baton Rouge, everyone should know political posturing against the national and state administrations can come with a price.

But then many of the Commissioners enjoy the stage more than the product.

The Shreveport City Council is expected to pass similar resolutions at the Tuesday meeting. Assuming this to be the case, then the four council members supporting this action can sleep better next Tuesday night.

Now, back to the real world. There are some significant parish issues that can be addressed at the next meeting of the Commission. And the same is true for the city council, which was elected to deal with city business.
