All Louisiana candidates on the November 3, 2026, ballot must file with the Louisiana Ethics Administration campaign finance reports for the period ending September 24, 2026, on or before Monday Oct. 5.
These reports will list the names, addresses and amounts donated by contributors along with in-kind contributions, loans, campaign expenses, and campaign fund balances.
These reports will publicly reveal candidate supporters and the campaign's financial strength for the closing weeks.
They may also show discrepancies, much like the report filed by Public Service Commission candidate Shreveport Councilman James Green, which showed a negative cash balance.
Most likely, one or more candidates will fail to file their reports on time.
In the political races money is paramount, but not always determinative of outcomes. Nonetheless the reports will provide information for discerning voters and political wonks.
Settle Talk will report on the Shreveport mayoral and council races, the Caddo school board races and the hotly contested Bossier City Marshal election.
