Bad Planning On Access To Pickleball Complex?

Plans for the $10 million southeast Shreveport Caddo Parish pickleball complex show one entrance/exit onto the two-lane Flournoy Lucas Road in the empty land area behind the Forbing Kroger and the railroad track that runs along Forbing Road.

The planned parking lot is for 500 cars.

The railroad track is less than 50 yards from the entrance/exit and it is an active track with crossing arms.

Access to the complex can also be from the two-lane Forbing Road, but vehicles must cross the railroad track on Forbing to reach the entrance/exit.

Another route to the complex is via Wallace Lake Road, which has a four-way stop at Flournoy Lucas. However, the railroad crossing on Flournoy Lucas must be navigated.

The plans for this pickleball complex are not directly related to the proposed $70 million sports complex; however, they do reflect on the decision-making and planning process of parish officials spending taxpayer dollars.

This is not to say the pickleball complex planning is a 'train wreck" but it certainly will lead to major traffic jams on a busy two lane area of Flournoy Lucas Road.
