Three city council members voted against putting the bond propositions on the ballot: John Nickelson, Levette Fuller, and Grayson Boucher. Boucher said he would vote for proposition #2—police, fire and SPAR. Fuller, as usual, enjoyed interviews on KEEL opposing all 3 propositions. Nickelson also opposed all 3 bond propositions.
Boucher attended one of the town hall meetings on the bond. He came late and left early. Nickelson and Fuller did not bother to show at any meetings.
Nickelson and Boucher have constantly talked of the need to maintain city assets. Fuller has said don’t expand the city until you can take care of what is in the city limits.
None of the three have denied the fact that the roof at the convention center needs to be repaired. So, what is their solution for this pressing issue? The convention center is the largest city investment. Bond money would have repaired it.
All three have said they want to “trim the fat” in the city budget. Will they find the money for the convention center?
The council meets this Friday—Nov. 22 because of Thanksgiving week. Hopefully citizens will inquire. And maybe even ask about the needed roof repairs at A.B. Palmer Park, which is in Cedar Grove.
