WHAT DO NICKELSON, FULLER AND BOUCHER PROPOSE ON THE SPD HEADQUARTERS?

The problems at the aging Shreveport Police Department headquarters on Texas Avenue have been well documented. Inadequate air conditioning, mold and faulty plumbing require expensive maintenance costs.

John Nickelson, Levette Fuller and Grayson Boucher opposed putting any bond propositions on the recent ballot.

Proposition #2 would have funded construction of a new headquarters building. Nickelson and Fuller publicly denounced all the bond proportions. Boucher made a public statement that he would vote for the proposition on police, fire and SPAR (#2). Other than that, he did not support that proposition—or the other two.

All three of these council members have publicly stated their support for the police and recognized the deplorable conditions at the headquarters building. Now the ball is in their court to suggest how to remedy this situation. Bringing box fans next summer when the temps at that building reach 100 degrees in offices is not a good solution.
