John came to Shreveport in January of 1977 when he was transferred to Barksdale AFB.

He’s been active in Shreveport politics since deciding to make Shreveport his home.

John practiced law for 40 years and he now monitors local politics. He regularly attends Shreveport City Council and Caddo Parish Commission meetings.

John is published weekly in The Inquisitor, bi-monthly in The Forum News, and frequently in the Shreveport Times.

He enjoys addressing civic groups on local government issues and elections.

 

MERCKLE, MOUTON, WOOD--SEPARATING THE CANDIDATES


Emily Settle Merckle, Edward Mouton and Paul Wood are candidates for an open Shreveport city judgeship.

Merckle is 33, Mouton is 63, and Wood is 61.

Merckle is the only female candidate.

Merckle has loaned her campaign $7,500. Mouton has loaned his campaign $58,700. Wood has loaned his campaign $73,000. (These are the loans reported through Oct. 14.)

Merckel has endorsements of seven current elected officials including Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator, five former elected officials, and numerous business people including attorneys and physicians. These include nine African-Americans and seven women.

Mouton has not sought any endorsements.

Wood has been endorsed by seven retired law enforcement persons, five elected officials and one attorney. These include three African-Americans but NO women.

All three candidates are Republicans.
