NOVEMBER ELECTION WILL HAVE TWO OPEN CADDO JUDGESHIPS

The terms of all Caddo judges will be up for reelection in the Nov. 2 primary. With the exception for Judge Bobby Waddell and Judge Charles Tutt, all of the current district court judges are expected to be on the ballot.

Judge Waddell is 71 and by state law he can not seek reelection. Judge Tutt , who can run again, is retiring from the bench.

Waddell has been on the bench since 1990. His is the chief judge based on his tenure.

Tutt was elected in 2014.

Don Hathaway, Jr. announced last year that he would seek Waddell's seat. Recently, Chris Victory has announced he will seek Tutt's seat. Mary Winchell is considering running for this seat.

Hathaway and Victory will be running in separate judicail districts. Hathway's district includes southwest Shreveport and much of north Caddo. Victory's district is southeast Shreveport and south Caddo parish.

Only voters in each respective district can vote for either Hathaway or Victory. It is not a requiement that the candidates themselves actually live in the districts.

Currently neither of these candidates have opposition. This is likely to change by the qualifying deadline of July 17.
