The Caddo Commission will meet via video conference on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
This will be the first video conference governmental body meeting in northwest Louisiana. It is authorized by Gov. John Bel Edward's emergency order.
Two topics are on the agenda. It is expected they will be approved unanimously.
The first is to approve an emergency ordinance authorizing reimbursement of LSU Health and Sciences Center (LSUHSC) for COVID-19 testing in areas identified as community clusters of COVID-19 spread and in rural areas of Caddo Parish.
Individuals must meet CDC guidelines for testing . Reimbursement for any eligible funds under the CARES ACT of 2020 will be pursued.
This request was made to the Commission by LSUHSC Chancellor G.E. Ghali and Dr. Chris Kevil, Vice-Chancellor for Research.
The testing will be conducted by the Partners of Wellness Mobile Testing Units.
The Commission has previously appropriated $350,000 for emergency aid in its Reserve Trust Fund.
Under the Commission Charter emergency ordinances can be approved as "one readers." Thus this funding ordinance can be both introduced and adopted on Thursday.
The other agenda item is a resolution to place on the November ballot ad valorem tax renewals of public health, juvenile court and detention and the courthouse.
Citizens who wish to address the Commission on any issue can submit comments to the commission clerk by email. Individual comments are limited to 3 minutes and will be read aloud during the Citizens Comments section or the Public Hearings section of the agenda.
