FOCUS ON FARMING by JACK DILLARD

Last Monday about noon, a real change came over our little part of the Ark-La-Tex, when the Texas Louisiana Line was closed to traveling from Louisiana into Texas. The “virus” caused the action, and as far as I know it was the proper thing to do. We must do all we can to control the spread of the disease.

All of my life I have lived close to the state lines, Oklahoma and Texas, Texas and Louisiana and now back to the Texas side since the early ’60s. We were never in a city, always in a small community or on a farm. Most of my life we crossed the line between states like “going down the street.” However, it has never been like it has since last Monday. All are cooperating, and we must. I have found few folks that are really upset, because we can see that all are trying to get the disease under control. However, I (you can, too) can see where conditions are going to be a part of our present and future life and our ability to feed our families and continue our cash flow. Most of us realize that our situation is rapidly becoming the responsibility of a Higher Power, as we are arriving in circumstances that are larger than you and me. Continue to pray to God that “thy will be done,” and if we keep our faith, He will see us through. I base my future on that hope and prayer.
