It’s like a bad comedy show, a really bad comedy show.
Bossier Councilman David Montgomery is on a mission to give Bossier Mayor Tommy Chandler a hard time -- as in obstructionist -- at each Bossier council meeting.
In the process King David has run roughshod over his puppet, Council President Bubba Williams, as he ignores the council rules of procedure. Montgomery yells at the meetings as if he were at a high school football game without being recognized by Williams, directing his comments to Chandler versus Williams as is the protocol.
Montgomery’s antics are becoming an irritant to many Bossier citizens, including some of his allies. And his rants at each meeting since Chandler took office have fueled the recall effort against Williams.
King David’s anti-Chandler battle plan has encouraged many citizens to focus on his insurance agency and his relationship with other local government entities that use him as their insurance agent.
If the Williams recall is successful, other recall efforts may be started against the other council members who pay homage to King David. And those on the council with mayoral aspirations, like Vince Maggio, may want to distance themselves from the king, who may lose his crown during his current term.
In the meantime, the Bossier Council has become the big joke in political circles. The old days of saying that we don’t play bad like the Shreveport Council are now gone thanks to King David.
