SHOULD LEE O. SAVAGE RUN FOR MAYOR THIS FALL?

The message on a digital billboard on Line Ave. near 70th Street reads "Savage for Mayor."

The potential candidate is Lee O. Savage, who ran unsuccessfully for the position in 2018.

Savage finished fourth behind Adrian Perkins, Ollie Tyler, and Jim Taliaferro in the primary.

Both Perkins and Tyler ran as Democrats while Taliaferro and Savage ran as Republicans.

During the campaign there was much moaning and wailing that two Republicans in the race was one too many. The same cries of angst are being heard about this year's election with Taliaferro and fellow Republican Tom Arceneaux having declared as mayoral candidates.

And now along comes Savage who may jump into the crowded boat of candidates that now includes Mario Chavez.

A political maverick in 2018, Savage has had a low public profile in the last few years. His success during 2018 was fueled in large part by his Trump-like campaign.

Savage reports that he has "had a lot of people urging me to run and promising to come up with a lot of money. As you know it takes quite a lot of money. But as we all know and have been a part of if more than one Republican runs it's a disaster."
