Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins has nominated Tangela Hampton Sylvie to the Shreveport Airport Authority Board of Directors. The nomination can be confirmed by the Shreveport City Council at its March 22 meeting.
Sylvie is nominated for a five-year term. She is to replace attorney Mary Jackson, whose term expired in February.
Sylvie has been the principal of Cherokee Park Elementary School since 2017. She has a master’s degree from Louisiana Tech University and an undergraduate degree from Grambling State University.
Sylvie is also the CEO and founder of the R. Tammy Fleming Lupus Foundation and of Teaching and Learning Consultants. She previously served on Mayor Perkins' Transition Advisory Board.
Sylvie joins a four-person airport board that has had difficulty in complying with the Louisiana Open Meetings Law as well as retaining an executive director for the airport authority.
