JOHN E. SETTLE JR
The template utilized by the Shreveport city council lists approval of minutes of prior meetings BEFORE public comments.
Thus citizens who have questions/corrections on the minutes can only comment AFTER the council's vote on the minutes.
Seemingly this template is violative of the Louisiana Open Meetings Law.
The city attorney has refused to release his reasoning/opinion on the validity of the agenda template.
Good government dictates that opinions rendered to the city council on non-litigation matters be released to the public.
In the scheme of things, this may not be a big deal. But if the city attorney is stonewalling on the agenda template, what else is being ignored or swept under the rug by this office?
