TONIGHT'S SOUTHWOOD REDISTRICTING COMMUNITY MEETING VERY IMPORTANT

JOHN E. SETTLE JR

The demographer for the Caddo School Board - Cecil Floyd of Data Center,LLC, has only presented ONE redistricting plan for the school board.

Floyd's reputation of of NOT being non-biased in his work is evidenced by the plan that has seven majority minority districts.

Currently the school board has six majority majority districts and six minority majority districts.

Floyd ignores the reality of the 2020 census population of Caddo Parish in presenting the plan.

The Caddo School Board has a very important community meeting tonight (Mon. April 25) in the Southwood High School auditorium. The forum is from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.

The school board must adopt a redistricting plan no later than June 17.

The redistricting plan will be the most important decision of this board for this year, and for that matter during the current terms of all  the 12 board members.

Although the plan could be adopted at the May board meeting, it should be delayed to allow for more citizen input and for presentation of more than one plan by the demographer.

There is no excuse for Floyd not presenting more than one plan to the board and the public.

Floyd should have presented a plan that maintains the current balance on the board.

The school board should insist on at least two plans for consideration.
