SHREVEPORT COUNCILMAN GREEN ENDORSES BEARD BUTTER

JOHN E. SETTLE JR

If you have ever grown a beard, then you probably know about beard butter.

It’s a creme - like product that one applies to his beard.

Manufacturers claim that this macho beauty product provides conditioning and nourishing benefits for the hair and skin.

They also say beard butter provides a very light hold and styling effect on the beard.

It is also claimed that beard butter will help return moisture to a person's face and hair while encouraging growth. It will help keep beard hairs healthy, softer and fuller while taming flyways. It keeps the beard styled to perfection all day.

For those that have been watching Shreveport councilman James Green since he took office in last 1998, there has been a dramatic change in his appearance.

No, he has NOT gotten taller.

When he was sworn into office he had a shaved head and a full moustache.

He still has a shaved head but now he has a full length beard..

Its quite obvious that Green is very proud of his mane.

He had a new council picture with the full brush posted on the wall outside the chambers at Government Plaza.

An  online website describes Green's beard as a "power beard." Since he is president of the council a power beard seems appropriate.

Not only does Green sport a well-manicured power beard, flashy attire and different home-made neck thingies, but he also endorses a brand of beard butter--Edgward.

Green has a slick video on both his personal FB page and on the FB page of his church (Union Missionary Baptist #1) pushing Edgward Beard Butter.

The commercial taunts that "the alluring smell of Edgward awaits you."

With various poses of Green stroking his power beard, the commercial promises that Edgward is idea for various beard types: strong, dashing, rugged, long, short and unruly. And no doubt that Edgward is perfect for power, ministerial beards.

"Its beard care without compromise."

One can only hope the Edgward beard butter will influence Green to compromise in his council votes now that he has the full backing of three other council members,

Councilman Alan Jackson also sports a mane. His brush is not the long power beard type like Green’s, but it probably qualifies as a power beard?  Jackson wears bowties, not home made neck thingies like Green.

Whether or not Jackson uses Edgward beard butter is not known. It’s a question he may encounter on the campaign trail this fall.
