To those who follow Bossier politics and especially the Bossier City Council, then the moniker "King David" is understood to be David Montgomery, Bossier city council member.
Montgomery was crowned "King" by yours truly after watching , and yes enduring, his actions while sitting at the council dias and outside the council chambers for the last few years.
Montgomery considers himself to be the end all when it comes to Bossier's government. That despite the fact that his favoured mayoral candidate Lo Walker lost his re-election bid. Montgomery also lost his north Bossier running buddy Tim Larkin in that election as well.
Montgomery's council position has well placed him to write insurance policies for many other public entities in both Bossier and Caddo parishes.
Montgomery made it his mission to make life miserable for Tommy Chandler when Chandler was sworn in as mayor. After flexing his political muscles and contacts, King David eventually worn down Chandler to the point that Tommy is a virtual rubber stamp now.
King David believes that he runs the council, whether or not he is the chairman or not.
If unhappy with any citizen or council member comments, King David becomes the big bully who acts out on the school grounds.. He shouts, interrupts speakers , and bobs up and down from his COUNCIL seat.
Hopefully Bossier city attorney Charles "Zamboni" Jacobs knows CPR. Jacob sits on the floor in the council chamber is next to Montgomery. Zamboni man could be useful in Montgomery has the "big one" during his COUNCIL tirades and falls off the dias into his lap.
Such was the case at the Tues. Sept 20 council meeting. Councilman Chris Smith had been recognized by council president Jeffery Darby. While Smith was speaking, Montgomery rudely interrupted Smith in a loud voice, like in shouting.
In his terse dialogue Montgomery made many derogatory remarks about Smith.
When Darby attempted to restore order, Montgomery interruptedly him as well.
So much for diplomacy as an elected official, much less good manners and appropriateness in actions and words.
If one is to google the definition of "jackass" Montgomery's actions at that meeting certainly fit.
No, I am NOT referring to a male donkey, although that meaning does come to mind.
I am referring to the definition of "an appropriately rude or obnoxious person". This certainly fits Montgomery at council meetings when the wind does not blow the way he wants.
Unfortunately, the other council members generally tolerate Montgomery's antics as if no big deal.
And that is one of the big problems with Bossier city's government.
