Shreveport city council president James Green is ramrodding the appointment of Kendra Joseph to be the next council clerk.
Green attempted to have the vote on Tues. of this week. The matter was not on the agenda and thus could not be subject to council action.
A special meeting has now been called for tomorrow (Fri,) at 9 a.m. to confirm Joseph.
To date, Green has NOT released any information on the qualifications for this position much less any information on Joseph.
The word on the street is that Joseph is a close friend of Sherricka Fleming, a member of Mayor Perkin's cabinet.
Additionally, street talk is that Joseph was not successful in her brief stint with a major Shreveport law firm.
A public records request for the job posting of this position has been answered.
NO JOB POSTING WAS MADE TO FILL THIS POSITION.
So how did Green find this person, much less pick her?
And why are any other council members supporting this nomination?
A public records request for all emails between council members and city employees concerning this position has been made--and when the response is received more information on this clandestine selection should become known.
In the meantime, what has happened to the good government principle of transparency?
And why the rush versus allow the new council in Jan. of next year fill this position after a job posting , etc.
The clerk of council is an unclassified position.
This means that if Joseph is selected she could be easily replaced by the next council, which will have three if not four new faces.
