SHREVEPORT COUNCILWOMAN TAYLOR SHOULD EXPLAIN ABSTENTION ON VOTE

Councilwoman Tabatha Taylor has served on the Shreveport City Council since May of 2020. Since that time, she has had hundreds of votes as council member.

At. the Tues. council meeting Taylor abstained for the FIRST time on any vote.

She did NOT abstain from voting to confirm her longtime romantic partner Ron Lattier to be the city attorney.

Nor did she abstain from a vote that gave her paramour Lattier a pay raise in excess of $15 grand.

The abstention was on a confirmation vote to hire as an assistant city attorney Edwin Jones.

Jones is well experienced having served as an assistant city attorney and a staff attorney at LSU Med School. His expertise in human relations law is invaluable and much needed in the city attorney's office.

No council members questioned the nomination of Jones by Mayor Arceneaux.

Taylor made no comments, but just ABSTAINED.

Taylor owes the citizens of her district and the city an explanation for her vote.

It’s a known fact that she wanted Lattier to be continued on as city attorney.

She made unsuccessful pitches to both Arceneaux and Greg Tarver during the runoff election on behalf of Lattier.

Was her abstention a protest against the mayor?

Jones is a white man; hopefully her abstention was not racially motivated.

Taylor refuses to communicate in any fashion with me, even to acknowledge a "good morning, Ms. Taylor."

Thus, I made no inquiry as to her abstention.
