WILL COUNCILMAN JACKSON ANSWER QUESTIONS AT WED. TOWN HALL MEETING?

Shreveport city councilman Alan Jackson announced at the last Shreveport council meeting that he was holding a town hall meeting at the Southern Hills Community Center on Wed. April 19 at 6 p.m.

A text to him asking if he would entertain questions has not been answered.

In the past Jackson has been very reluctant to answer questions at a public forum.

Hopefully he will be responsive to those who attend this meeting as well as the media.

Here are some suggested inquiries:

1. Are you going to vote to confirm Tom Dark as CAO at the next council meeting? If not, why not?

2. You voted to hire RJ Johnson as Director of Council Affairs to assist council meetings.

a. Is Johnson required to submit a report to the council on his weekly labors? If not, why not?

b. How has Johnson assisted you as a council member?

3. You voted to approve an across the board 13% pay raise for ALL city employees last year. Does the budget this year cover all the payroll costs WITHOUT dipping into the city reserves?

4. Will you vote at the next council meeting to approve the proposals to fund streets, lighting, and blight?

If not, what not?

5. How many streets in District E are on the proposed list of streets to be repaired?

The purpose of town hall meetings is to share information. This should be from the presenter of the meeting as well as the department heads who must attend.

Hopefully Jackson will respond to questions.

This has been sent to Jackson so he should be ready to answer.
