ON TOMORROW (SAT.) I AM VOTING TO RE-AUTHORIZE THE SIX TAX MILLAGES--AND FOR OUR NEXT CITY MARSHAL

Yes, you should go to the polls tomorrow, Saturday, if you are a Shreveport voter.

The ballot will have six tax millages for re-authorization and the run-off election for Shreveport city marshal.

The millages expired last year. Thankfully the Arceneaux administration discovered this failure by the Perkins administration to have a renewal election in Jan. of this year.

The propositions are for basic government services:

1. Street improvements, repair, and maintenance

2. Recreation facilities operations and maintenance

3. City wages and salaries

4. Police and fire personnel uniforms and equipment

5. Pensions for city employees

6. Police three-platoon system

I will gladly pay these taxes on my townhouse, a residence on Greenway Place and a residence on Anniston simply because this money is needed to maintain our quality of life.

Collectively these millages will generate over $11.5 million that must be paid--either from the millages or from the general operating budget.

Hopefully all readers will go vote and approve ALL of these propositions.
