COUNCILMAN JACKSON SOUNDED FOOLISH ON KEEL THIS AM

Shreveport councilman Alan Jackson was on the KEEL morning show with Mike and McCarty this morning.

As usual, Erin McCarty had done her homework before the interview.

Obviously, Jackson had not. But then that is not news.

At yesterday's Audit and Finance Committee meeting chairman Jackson took great pains to defend councilman James Green and the pay raise fiasco. But then, Jackson being the waterboy for Green and Tabatha Taylor is not news.

What was news, but actually fake news, was Jackson saying that prior council chairman had granted pay raises ex parte and handing out copies of memos from former council chairs James Flurry and Jerry Bowman, Jr.

What Jackson did not know presumably was that the council had approved the pay raises.

Evidently a member of the council staff, most likely clerk Shanerika Fleming, had provided the memos sans the council minutes to Jackson.

McCarty had researched these pay raises and advised the radio audience and Jackson that they had been approved by the council. Specifically, the pay raises were not instituted by the chairmen acting along.

Thus the "I did what others had done" hot air balloon floated by Green crashed, much like the Hindenburg.

And this crash took with it Jackson and Taylor.

In the interview Jackson also stated that the council members were paid $25,000 a year.

The actual pay is $15,000.

But then, who knows?

Maybe Green has given Jackson a pay raise?

Jackson continues to spin facts in his high-handed oratory which may serve him well at Grambling, but does not pass muster in Shreveport.
