Grayson Boucher is finishing up two consecutive terms as the District D Shreveport City councilman. He will be termed out and cannot seek reelection.
District D encompasses southeast Shreveport. This district pays substantial ad valorem taxes to the City of Shreveport and generates the lion’s share of sales tax revenue for the city. Many of the District D residents believe that a fair share of city revenue is NOT expended in their district.
To date no one has made a formal announcement for this race. A name that has popped up is Tim Euler, who previously ran for the Caddo Commission.
Euler is employed at the Head of School/Superintendent of the Word of God Academy.
When asked about his interest in this seat he responded:
“I am praying about this opportunity and processing the requirements for this race. I have begun conversations with people, both in and out of the district, and I have gained strong positive feedback.
I will make an announcement in the next several weeks. I would be honored to serve the citizens of this district if the opportunity presents itself.’
Euler ran a strong positive campaign for Commissioner and thus he (and his family) knows the realities of a political race. Many who qualify do not comprehend on the front end the challenges of a political race, much less the time the elected position requires.
It’s a long time until the qualifying at the end of July next year. Euler will be a good candidate if he decides to jump into the race.
