KTAL INCORRECTLY REPORTS SAVINGS OF SHREVEPORT WATER BOND REFINANCING

Goodness, can’t paid local media people do a better job in important reporting?

Just posted on the KTAL website is this story: “Shreveport to save $2 million by refinancing water bonds.” This headline and story copy is incorrect—like by $6 million.

Shreveport bond attorney Mike Busade reported a net saving of $8 million expected from the water bond refinancing at the special Shreveport Council meeting yesterday morning.

These bonds were rated at A- when issued and will have a good resale value.

This action by the Arceneaux administration and the Council represents sound fiscal planning. The administration had considered a bond sale earlier this year but waited for better bond sale conditions that now exist.

These savings will help fund needed water/sewer upgrades over approximately five years of the sale.
