This is a personal request.
I have owned The Inquisitor, now FOCUS SB/The Inquisitor, since Nov. 2019.
FOCUS SB runs positive local news, most of which has not been published or had been under published. It also runs editorials on local topics by local people.
The Inquisitor was founded on crime--running crime stories and mugshots for over 20 years.
Under my ownership, The Inquisitor portion of the paper does not sensationalize crime. The paper only runs factual crime stories and mugshots. It also runs positive news pertaining to local law enforcement.
The criminal mugshots are published on other media--TV, radio, and other blogs. Thus, if a person's mugshot is published in my paper it is not a personal attack--it’s just news that is available to many and on websites.
My blog Settle Talk often has columns that can be considered controversial. They express my opinion on local politics, just like other blogs and postings on social media.
My blogs are factually based--readers may disagree with my message but that cannot fault my factual basis, This is quite a difference that readers should hopefully appreciate.
FOCUS SB almost always has a SETTLE TALK column. Many times, this column is not posted on my blog. Again, it is my personal opinion, just like social media comments. I do my best to make sure I have the facts correctly before I opine on an issue. Unfortunately, this is not the case with many social media posts.
My staff only posts what I write and/or approve--both on my blog and in my paper.
Mugshots that are available are posted routinely. I occasionally decline an editorial by a local writer.
My Associate Editor does an excellent job with graphics and putting the paper together. He has written some excellent copy on people featured on the front page of FOCUS SB, as well as other copy. His work is subject to my approval.
Attacks on what has been published in FOCUS SB/The Inquisitor--or not published--should be addressed to me, not my Office Manager or my Associate Editor. The same is true with my blog. Hopefully, readers will discern the difference--don't shoot the messenger.
