WHAT'S HOTTER THAN THE SIDEWALKS AT 3 P.M IN SHREVEPORT?

The old adage that  "it’s hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalk" is certainly true these days in Shreveport.

Both literally and figuratively.

Temperatures have been unbearable in recent days with heat indexes exceeding 100 degrees. And the heat was on big time, for over 30 minutes, in the Government Plaza chambers yesterday afternoon.

At the  Shreveport City Council work session, it was Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux who was in the hot seat. Some would say his fanny was in a scorching hot frying pan.

City Council members chastised the mayor, in strong and uncertain terms, over his selection process--and then announcement--of the 25 member steering committee for his BLOCK by BLOCK initiative. The diatribes hurled at Mayor Tom were the most forceful witnessed in many years of attending council meetings going back to the Glover administration.

Expect the Caddo Commission's work session next Monday to also be a barn burner. This time, the Commission president Stormy Gage-Watts and commission clerk will be asked hard questions, and most likely criticized by many.

The topic will be the Bernie Sanders resolution printed on Commission letterhead that was NOT discussed, much less approved by the full Commission. The resolution was signed by the seven Democrat commissioners and the commission clerk. The Louisiana Attorney General's office has made an inquiry on what apparently is a blatant, and planned, violation of the  Open Meetings Law.

Stay tuned.
