SHREVEPORT MPC BOARD TO GET STARTED ON FINDING NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Shreveport Metropolitan Planning Commission  Executive Director Alan Clarke has announced his retirement effective Dec. 31 of this year. How much annual leave Clarke has accumulated and when his actual last day in office will be is unknown.

The Shreveport MPC has its August meeting tomorrow--Wed.--at 3 p.m. in the chambers of Government Plaza. The published agenda does NOT include a line item for  replacement of Clarke although it is expected to be a topic of discussion.

Stephen Jean, the deputy director, has been with MPC for over 25 years. He is expected to be a strong candidate for the job. Jean has been very effective in addressing the Shreveport City Council at meetings where Clarke was absent.

The Shreveport MPC administers the Shreveport Unified Development Code (UDC) which contains building standards and zoning classifications within the Shreveport city limits. It also enforces the Shreveport UDC zoning code.

The Shreveport MPC staff also  provides contractual services for the Caddo Parish Planning and Zoning Commission. This commission has jurisdiction within the so-called five mile zone. Like with the City, the MPC staff administers the parish UDC and zoning in the parish zoning area.
