John came to Shreveport in January of 1977 when he was transferred to Barksdale AFB.

He’s been active in Shreveport politics since deciding to make Shreveport his home.

John practiced law for 40 years and he now monitors local politics. He regularly attends Shreveport City Council and Caddo Parish Commission meetings.

John is published weekly in The Inquisitor, bi-monthly in The Forum News, and frequently in the Shreveport Times.

He enjoys addressing civic groups on local government issues and elections.

 

ROUND TWO; MORE HARD QUESTIONS FOR MAYORAL CANDIDATE GAGE-WATTS 

Readers of Settle Talk continue to send in questions that Caddo Commissioner and now Shreveport mayoral candidate Stormy Gage-Watts should answer publicly during her campaign, hopefully within a few weeks.

These questions are numbered sequentially from those posed in yesterday’s post “Hard Questions That Mayoral Candidate Gage-Watts Needs Answer”:

13. Do you have a two- year or four-year college degree, and if so in what subject(s) and from what institutions

14. Do you think the $10 million pickleball complex in southeast Shreveport, which you endorsed and voted for, will add to the quality of life of families and children with low incomes living in Queensborough, Mooretown, Allendale, MLK and the rural area where your home is located

15. What training, education, and/or experience do you have that will enable you, if elected mayor, to manage the city of Shreveport’s budget of over $700 million

16. While on the Commission how many years did you vote to fund money to the Independence Bowl and did you always get free tickets to the Skybox for the game the years you voted for funding

17. While serving on the Commission how many trips for conferences/meetings/seminars have you attended, in total, that were paid for with taxpayer dollars and what was the total costs paid/reimbursed for these trips

18. In 2026, Do you plan on attending any conferences/seminars/meetings as a commissioner that will be paid for with taxpayer dollars

19. Did you vote to stop the annual practice of rotating the commission chair between white Republicans and black Democrats, and if so, please explain the basis for the vote(s

20. Other than your first election for the Commission have run a contested election for the Commission

21. Other than the Commission, have you ever run for and/or been elected to any other public office

22. Will your husband run for your commission seat this year?

23. If you are invited to appear in studio for the Mike and McCarty Keel Radio show to answer questions like Mayor Arceneaux does, will you accept the invitation
