John came to Shreveport in January of 1977 when he was transferred to Barksdale AFB.

He’s been active in Shreveport politics since deciding to make Shreveport his home.

John practiced law for 40 years and he now monitors local politics. He regularly attends Shreveport City Council and Caddo Parish Commission meetings.

John is published weekly in The Inquisitor, bi-monthly in The Forum News, and frequently in the Shreveport Times.

He enjoys addressing civic groups on local government issues and elections.

 

MOORINGSPORT MAYOR/CITIZENS FILE SUIT AGAINST CITY OF SHREVEPORT OVER DATA CENTER

Mooringsport mayor Tyler Bridges and two other Mooringsport residents have filed suit against the City of Shreveport.
 
The suit challenges the decision by the Shreveport City Council to overturn the Shreveport Metropolitan Planning Commission’s denial of a special use permit to allow the construction of a data center near Mooringsport.
 
The suit alleges :
 
a. The City failed to provide due process to citizenry
 
b. The Council arbitrarily overturned the MPC denial of the special use permit
 
c. Failure to comply with UDC requirements
 
d. Failed  to impose needed conditions for the special permit application
 
e. Failed to consider environmental impact.
 
The suit requests a court judgment reversing the approval of the special permit application by the council.
 
The suit was filed by the law firm of Waltzer, Wiygul & Garside of Marrero, La. Local counsel is the Jack Bailey Law Corporation.
