THANKFULLY THE CADDO COMMISSION KICKED EPPERSON TO THE PRESIDENTIAL CURB

Caddo Commissioner Ken Epperson served as the Commission vice president for 2025. It has been the Commission’s custom to elevate the VP to the president’s seat.

That did NOT happen yesterday when the Caddo Commission elected Greg Young as the 2026 president. Epperson was NOT re-elected as vice president.

Epperson, who is serving his umpteenth term on the Commission, lost any chance he had to be elected the head cheese with his aggressive and unfounded opposition to the proposed Shreveport data center. His chances for the top seat were slim to none before his anti-data center position, which certainly sealed the deal for Young.

Epperson, much like fellow Commission dinosaur Roy Burrell, loves to recite his history of prior public service ad nauseum at Commission meetings as if his fellow commissioners needed a history lesson. Epperson’s acerbic and antagonistic comments at commission meetings have not endeared himself to his colleague or the Caddo administration staff.

Maybe if Epperson took off his dark-tinted glasses he could see the role of the Commission in a more progressive, enlightened viewpoint. That, and stop playing mickey military by not wearing his vest with faux military badges, may help him become a more positive member of the Commission.

But don't count it.
