Shreveport City Councilman Gary Brooks Announces Re-Election Campaign for District B

Shreveport, LA – Shreveport City Councilman Gary Brooks today officially announced his campaign for re-election to represent District B on the Shreveport City Council, citing strong progress in infrastructure improvements and public safety while emphasizing that important work remains ahead.

“Over the past term, we have worked hard to move Shreveport in the right direction,” Brooks said. “We have made meaningful progress repairing infrastructure, addressing long-neglected streets and drainage issues, and strengthening public safety efforts across our city. But our job is not finished.”

During his time on the Council, Brooks has prioritized rebuilding core city infrastructure — from roads and drainage systems to essential public works improvements — helping ensure taxpayer dollars are focused on long-term solutions rather than temporary fixes. He has also supported initiatives aimed at reducing crime and restoring a greater sense of safety in neighborhoods throughout Shreveport.

“Our community deserves safe streets, reliable infrastructure, and responsible leadership,” Brooks said. “We are beginning to see positive results. Crime trends are improving, and infrastructure projects are moving forward. That tells me we are on the right track.”

Brooks emphasized that while progress has been made, continued focus and steady leadership are essential to maintain momentum.

“There is still work to do,” he added. “We must continue strengthening public safety, modernizing our infrastructure, and ensuring that every neighborhood in District B sees real improvements. I am running for re-election because I believe in the direction we are headed and I want to help finish the job.”

Brooks pledged to continue working collaboratively with fellow council members, the Mayor’s office, law enforcement, and community leaders to build a safer, stronger Shreveport.

“I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together, and I’m optimistic about our future,” Brooks said. “The foundation has been laid. Now we must continue building.”

Councilman Gary Brooks was first elected to represent District B in 2022.
