PAST FUNDING OF CADDO PARISH OF “FOR PROFIT” ENTITIES

At the Caddo Commission’s next regular meeting an agenda item will be funding $32,500 to the Louisiana Rouxgaroux—which is a FOR PROFIT entity.

A public records request was made to determine if the Commission had funded any FOR PROFIT entities since Jan. 1, 2010, along with the amounts funded.

Parish Attorney Donna Frazier provided two cooperative endeavor agreements but did NOT provide information on the actual sums funded. A follow up email has requested this information.

In 2019 the Commission agreed to fund McPsalmonds LLC, a legal project of Veterans Outdoors, Inc., a sum NOT TO EXCEED $10,000 for the Ark-La-Tex Craft Beer and Barbeque Festival. This was a one-day event.

An internet search indicates that Veterans Outdoors, Inc. is a NON PROFIT entity.

In 2019, the Commission also agreed to fund Global Mixed Gender Basketball LLC a sum NOT TO EXCEED $15,000 for a Global Mixed Gender basketball game. This was a one-day event.

An internet search did not indicate if Global Mixed Gender Basketball, LLC is/was a NON PROFIT or a FOR PROFIT entity.

The Caddo Commission is the only local government entity that has been asked to provide funding for the Rouxgaroux. That means the City of Shreveport, Bossier City and the Bossier Police Jury have not entertained any notion of funding this entity.
