The Easter Bunny will make his/her/its annual appearance on Sunday, bringing candy and treats to youngsters throughout the region.
No doubt there will be leftover candy and Easter baskets that can be repurposed by the Caddo Commission for the Louisiana Rouxgaroux Arena Football team at the Commission’s meeting on Thursday (April 9.) That’s the date the Commission will vote on donating $32,500 to this FOR PROFIT entity.
The Rouxgaroux is based in Bossier, with its office in the Boardwalk and playing its games at the Brookshire’s Grocery Arena.
It’s likely that some of the Commissioners pushing this notion have received comp tickets to one or more of the Rouxgaroux home games, much like the Independence Bowl Skybox tickets doled out to Commissioners for the annual Independence Bowl which receives Commission funding. Unlike the Rouxgaroux, the I-bowl is presented by a NON-PROFIT entity.
Evidently those supporting this request are overlooking the fact that no funding for this team has been provided by Bossier City or Bossier Parish much less the city of Shreveport or even the Shreveport Bossier Sports Commission.
Hopefully the Easter Bunny will leave the area on Sunday and not leave a gift of public dollars for this football team.
