SHREVEPORT POLICE OFFICER ASSOCIATION ON POLICE CARS AND ROOK

The Shreveport Police Officers Association has requested the purchase of SPD patrol cars, and equipment for those cars, from the Caddo Parish Commission. Patrol cars are truly needed to maintain service to the citizens of Shreveport. We do not want any specialty vehicle to replace or be substituted for the request we have made.

The specialty vehicles are necessary for handling very limited and dangerous situations. However, Patrol cars serve as a deterrent every day, and carry police officers directly to the citizens we serve 24 hours per day. We ask the request for patrol cars to be considered and successfully passed by the Caddo Parish Commission respectfully.

The rook and the patrol car should not be in the same conversation. This is political interference simply because the longest serving Union in northwest Louisiana has had to get involved.

We will not tolerate this. We have the worst fleet of vehicles that require the highest maintenance of any law enforcement agency in north Louisiana. Stop playing politics and put dependable police patrol cars in service so that we can answer calls for service.
