WILL CAPTIAN AMY BOWMAN BE THE NEW SPD DEPUTY CHIEF

Shreveport has never had a female deputy police chief, much less a female police chief.

An announcement is expected soon---like maybe today—who will be named the deputy police of chief.

Insiders expect Captain Amy Bowman to win the position and, in the process, become Shreveport’s first female deputy chief.

Bowman, who recently was promoted to Captain, frequently attends Shreveport Council meetings and has headed up the department’s efforts to remove homeless people from public places and relocate them to shelters.

Bowman has good relations with the Arceneaux administration, and the City Council and she presents a good public image as a law enforcement officer.

The mayor makes the appointment, and it is not subject to council approval.

Hopefully this prediction will not put the 'hoodoo' on Cpt. Bowman's chances for selection.
