THE HARLEM GLOBETROTTERS AT THE PROPOSED CADDO SPORTS COMPLEX

A Sports Facilities Company (SFC) representative presented this morning to the Caddo Commission Economic Development on the proposed Caddo Parish sports facility project.

The proposal included seating configurations for traveling sporting entertainment groups, high school graduations, concerts, and convention meeting rooms.

The SFC rep singled out the Harlem Globetrotters as a possible option for this facility.

SFC hopes to be named the manager for this facility.

The glowing presentation implied that this facility would compete with the Shreveport Convention Center, the Brookshire’s Grocery Arena, Riverview Hall and Theatre, Municipal Auditorium, Hirsch Coliseum, The Strand, The Shreveport Little Theatre, Marjorie Lyons Playhouse, casino entertainment venues, and maybe even Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s Expo Hall 99-year lease and his proposed G-Unit Dome.

It's early—very early—in the sports facility planning process but it is all but guaranteed that the Caddo Commission will pass a resolution on Thursday to put a general obligation bond proposal on the November ballot.

While the hoopla continues on this project the Caddo Parish administration has yet to provide a public update on the planned pickleball complex for southeast Shreveport.

A recent public records request reveals that to date the parish does NOT have a lease for the land with the Forbing YMCA.
