It’s been a minute.
Ron Cothran is the chair of the Caddo Commission’s Public Safety Funding Committee.
The last meeting of this committee was held on May 18 when the Shreveport Police Department and rural public safety entities presented their public safety funding requests.
Since then, it's been crickets from Cothran, who promised prompt action at that meeting.
But low and behold, Cothran has scheduled a committee meeting tomorrow (Thursday) at 2 p.m. in the chambers at government plaza.
Maybe the fact that Cothran lives in a Shreveport gated community has diminished his interest in what could be a controversial topic.
Let’s hope that the committee makes recommendations for the full commission rather than kicking the can down the road.
After all, Cothran voted for a $60 million bond package for a sports complex, funding for a $10 million pickleball complex and funding in excess of $500 thousand for non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
If nothing more he should be interested in public safety for the pickleball and sports complexes.
