Caddo Commissioner Ron Cothran is the chairman of the commission’s Public Safety Funding Committee.
This committee’s last meeting on May 18 reviewed requests for public safety funding from the City of Shreveport and rural public safety entities for Commission funding exceeding $3 million.
Committee Chairman Cothran promised prompt action.
But as of today, no follow up meeting has been scheduled.
Cothran has a well-earned reputation for playing a good game but rarely following through with definitive action as a Caddo Commissioner. Perhaps his lamenting the need for more public safety is just hot air, given that he lives in a gated community in a high-dollar Shreveport subdivision.
Cothran always talks during the commission’s open mic session about all his activities and meetings, most of which have nothing to do with his duties as a commissioner. He never takes phone calls nor responds to texts.
Perhaps instead of recognizing his anniversary as he did at Monday’s work session, Cothran could save his breath and schedule a Public Safety Funding Committee meeting.
Cothran strongly supports the $10 million pickleball complex and the proposed $70 million sports complex which clearly overshadows his actual interest in Caddo Parish public safety.
