John came to Shreveport in January of 1977 when he was transferred to Barksdale AFB.

He’s been active in Shreveport politics since deciding to make Shreveport his home.

John practiced law for 40 years and he now monitors local politics. He regularly attends Shreveport City Council and Caddo Parish Commission meetings.

John is published weekly in The Inquisitor, bi-monthly in The Forum News, and frequently in the Shreveport Times.

He enjoys addressing civic groups on local government issues and elections.

 

NO GUARANTEE OF INCUMBENT SHREVEPORT MAYOR RE-ELECTION

Under the current Shreveport mayor-council form of government there have been nine mayors, including current mayor Tom Arceneaux.
 
The Shreveport city charter limits mayors to two terms.
 
Bill Hanna and Hazel Beard chose not to seek re-election after one term.
 
John Hussey was not opposed in his bid for a second term as mayor.
 
Bo Williams conceded after the primary in his re-election effort.
 
Keith Hightower and Cedric Glover handily won re-election.
 
Ollie Tyler lost in a run-off for a second term.
 
Adrian Perkins did not make the run-off when seeking a second term.
 
Going into the November primary election Mayor Arceneaux has a record setting campaign fund and is expected to be in a December run-off election.
