WHY HAS SHREVEPORT BOSSIER ADVOCATE FAILED TO REPORT ON PROVIDENCE HOUSE PROJECT

The Shreveport Bossier Advocate touts in depth coverage of important events in Shreveport Bossier.

This year this online publication has reported on the zoning variances for the proposed G-Dome, council approval of a Kings Highway development at the old Don’s Seafood restaurant location, bond approval for housing in the old Petroleum Tower, progress on the state office building renovation on Fannin and the council approval of a servitude for the Red River Expressway along with other articles on business expansions.

But when it comes to The Providence House and its conditional use granted by the MPC for a group home on Crockett Street it’s been crickets.

This project and the MPC action has been widely reported by all other local media outlets,

The proposed development is a major downtown project that will greatly expand the mission and capabilities of The Providence House and will replace an ugly green shed between Central ARTSTATION and Caddo Common.

Perhaps the reason is that SB Advocate business editor Liz Swaine appeared at the MPC meeting and voiced opposition to the project.

What happened to the journalistic independence of The Advocate newspaper conglomerate which includes the Shreveport-Bossier Advocate?

What happened to the Shreveport Bossier Advocate's promise to provide better local coverage, which was made when seeking contributions to fund the local publication's operations?
