PIONEER BANK BUILIDNG/401 TEXAS STREET PRICE REDUCTION ON COUNCIL AGENDA TODAY

The City of Shreveport owns the former Pioneer Bank Building at 401 Texas Street.

The property is no longer used by Community Development and has been declared surplus.

Originally appraised for $850,000, a revised appraisal has reduced the price to $507,000. The Shreveport City Council is expected to approve this amount as the minimum bid.

CAO Tom Dark advised the council that the reduction is due to many repairs needed to put the building into commerce and that the city has one interested party.

The five story building has almost 60,000 square feet, a large atrium with a sweeping staircase to a mezzanine and basement parking.

The identity of the interested party was not disclosed although there is some speculation that this building would be a prime showcase facility for Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.
