It’s hard—virtually impossible—to escape much less ignore media coverage of artificial intelligence (AI) and data centers. This coverage includes social media, blogs, podcasts, online publications, printed publications, radio and tv, circulars posted on utility poles.
AI and data centers go hand in hand like eggs and bacon, salsa sauce and chips, or beer and baseball.
The tsunami wave of ai/data center “news” can be equated with the long- term barrage of Covid reporting. In one sense both are hazardous to one’s mental health and peace of mind.
Much like the outpouring of Covid information, theories, and myths that cascaded on the public, the continuing deluge of “poop” on ai and data centers can be confusing, contradictory and misleading. As Caddo Commission clerk Jeff Everson notes “one cannot decide which puppets to believe without knowing the puppet masters.”
AI and data centers are here and the only questions to be answered is where they go in the coming days, weeks, months and years,
In the meantime, this writer has decided to attempt an “ai/data center fast,” refusing to read or listen to any published, broadcasted and/or distributed information on these topics for at least a week.
I have heard that this fast will help me lose weight, get younger, become better looking (if that is possible), double my net worth, grow more hair on my head, and help me cycle longer and faster. Note: I did not list write better.
My source is AI on the internet, so it must be true?
