NOW THERE WILL BE AT LEAST TWO VACANCIES ON THE CADDO DISTRICT COURT

At the Caddo Republican luncheon yesterday (Tues.) Caddo district judge Mike Pitman dropped a bombshell announcing he would not seek reelection to the Caddo bench in November ending over two decades on the domestic, criminal and civil bench.

Pitman’s term ends December 31 of this year and then he will become a mediator.

His judicial district is majority white and includes west Shreveport and north Caddo. Heather Courtney, wife of Caddo juvenile judge Justin Courtney, is rumored to be interested in filling this vacancy.

Judge Katherine Dorroh announced earlier this year that she will not seek re-election after being first elected to the district court bench in 2013 having presided over criminal and now domestic cases.

Hugo Holland is the only announced candidate for this judicial seat, which is also a white majority district.

Candidates for these two seats must live in the Parish, but not necessarily in the judicial districts.

Qualifying for these seats ends August 7 of this year with the election on November 3.
