SHREVEPORT MAYOR ARCENEUX CONTINUES TO MILK PR COW DURING REELECTION CAMPAIGN

P.T. Barnum once said that “There’s no such thing as bad publicity.”

Politicians know this is a myth, but they do agree that all positive publicity, no matter how small or on what subject, is a good thing.

Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux is giving a virtual clinic on how an elected official can use his position to promote his mayoral reelection campaign through positive public relations events at no cost to his well-funded reelection campaign.

The mayor’s KEEL Radio, KTAL and KTBS regular appearances offer great forums for Mayor Tom to provide positive news on his administration.

As mayor, Arceneaux can call a press conference on virtually any city government related issue, such as a ribbon cutting for completion of a water tower rehabilitation project, an MLK swimming pool renovation/opening and completion of major water main repair.

The Red, White & Boom event in the Red River District launching the city’s yearlong  celebration of America 259 nationwide initiative was widely broadcasted with a clip of Mayor Tom attempting to line dance.

The mayor welcomed the recent installation of a Visit Shreveport-Bossier interactive tourist kiosk at the Shreveport Regional Airport during a press conference.

A celebration of 100 years of Cross Lake accompanied by a movie in Ford Park and then fireworks sponsored by Shreveport Parks and Recreation provided local media coverage for Mayor Tom.

The mayor just turned in a petition to Caddo Registrar of Voters for qualify for re-election that substantial local media coverage.

Much like mom and apple pie all these events were good wholesale all American activities with no other than Mayor Tom front and center.

No doubt there will be many more such public relations events with media coverage between now and November 3 election day that will ensure the mayor high media ratings.

It’s called the power of the incumbency and Mayor Tom has certainly mastered his art.
