He is facing a big uphill challenge that he will most likely lose.
Caddo Commissioner Roy Burrell wants the proposed $70 million parish sports complex to be at the state fairgrounds rather than the I-20 corridor west of I-49.
Burrell cites the available acreage, the need to develop the inner city and the proximity of the location to the projected workforce.
As plans for this project proceed before the November 3 vote by Caddo citizens to fund it, Burrell can be expected to continue opposing the three identified corridors and the Economic Development Committee's expressed preference for the I-20 location.
Commissioner Chris Kracman opposes the sports complex initiative and it is expected that one or possibly two other commissioners will publicly oppose the vote including Burrell.
