Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith presented his monthly year-to-date crime report at the Shreveport City Council work session yesterday (Monday).
His comparisons are to the period ending August 24, 2025:

Vehicle thefts DOWN 15%
Robberies DOWN 1%
Home/business burglaries DOWN 16%
Vehicle burglaries DOWN 15%
Shootings DOWN 14%
Homicides UP 20%
Domestic violence calls for service UP 1%
Vehicle crashes UP 3%
DWI arrests UP 33 %
Fatal vehicle crashes in Caddo Parish UP 65%
Chief Smith noted that Caddo Parish leads the state by a large margin in fatal vehicle crashes.
